Detoxing using Raw Food
The whole concept of going on a detox diet is to eliminate toxins from the body by eating healthy foods. Eating raw food is one of the healthiest ways to get the essential nutrients that we all need. Doesn't it therefore make sense to be detoxing using raw food?
It is not difficult to incorporate raw food into your detox plan. There's a wide variety of fruit and vegetables that are available to you. Here is a short list of other things you may also like to try: seeds, sea algae, kelp, nuts and bean sprouts. You can also drink herbal teas. Some raw foodists also eat raw fish and unpasteurized dairy products.
There are 3 popular dishes that you can eat raw: the fruit salad, the smoothie and the vegetable salad. The fruit salad is just as it sounds; you put a mixture of your favorite fruits chopped up in a bowl. You could use bananas, strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, apples and pears. If you want, you can top with sunflower seeds. This makes a superb breakfast.
Smoothies are made by putting a few of your favorite fruits in a blender and whizzing them. If the mixture is a little bit thick you can add water, unpasteurized milk or rice milk. This can be an alternative breakfast, or drunk at any time during the day.
A fresh salad can be prepared by using mushrooms, sweet peppers, baby corn, olives, and carrots on a bed of rocket and lettuce leaves. This can be drizzled with a cold-pressed olive oil and lemon juice dressing. Add some pumpkin seeds or pine nuts to the top to add some texture.
By following a raw food detoxing diet you know that you're not destroying the nutrients in your food while cooking. It may take a little bit of planning, but ultimately many people feel better after a period of eating raw food.
